West Harlem
If you are searching for a little taste of everything, Harlem is the place to be. While it contains some of New York City’s most historic blocks, it is more affordable than other parts of the city. The Harlem Renaissance took place in the 1920s and 30s, and with landmarks like the Apollo Theatre, history is abundant in this region. It has been a culturally significant location for African-Americans for years, and it helped promote great artists such as Aretha Franklin and Duke Ellington. In recent years, it has also become the professional home to former President, Bill Clinton. Harlem has also seen a boom in new development and the welcoming of several new residents. Let’s not forget it is also the location of Sylvia’s famous American soul food restaurant.
