Flatiron District
The Flatiron District, named so after the famous Flatiron building which is the first steel framed building and one of the original New York City skyscrapers, is also home to turn of the century architecture, which greatly contributed to the development of the city’s early skyline. It includes a diversity of shops to satisfy both the most chic and frugal of tastes. The southeastern corner of the Flatiron District includes Union Square Park, which in itself encompasses a wide variety of events and activities, not to mention a beautiful green space and dog park. It is the location for several park concerts and one of the city’s best outside farmers markets. Flatirons convenient location is served by the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R, and W subway lines.
