Bedford-Stuyvesant
“Bed-Stuy” as it is affectionately known by Brooklynites, is central to many of Brooklyn’s other neighborhoods including Clinton Hill and Forte Greene. Popularly known as the former stomping grounds for famous rappers like Jay-Z and Biggie Smalls, this neighborhood is redefining itself as the new frontier for urban development and culture. Fulton Street is well known for its small fashion boutiques, antique shops, and beauty salons. Bed-Stuy is another neighborhood popular for its Brownstones. The majority of these homes are converted into 3 and 4 family homes, so that even renters can enjoy a special part of this community’s history. Bedford –Stuyvesant has one of the oldest authentic African-American communities in all the five boroughs, second only to Harlem.
